The roots of Thai traditional massage trace their origins some 2500 years ago to India where Jivaka Komarabhacca, the founder of the practice, was a physician, friend and confidant of Buddha. Most of the ancient Thai medical texts were destroyed in 1776 with the sacking of Ayutthaya by the Burmese. What was left was carved in stone in 1832, when King Rama III in hopes of preserving the tradition of massage, had stone inscriptions set into the walls at the temple Wat Poh in Bangkok. Traditional Thai massage lies in the theory of intrinsic energy flow and energy balance aimed to promote better health and healing of ailments.
We begin with a soothing soak in a warm bath infused with fresh Thai herbs of lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, mint and camphor.
Then follow by a specialized foot massage to assist you to relieve your stress and tension. Reflexology improves your blood circulation and nerve supply, fostering a restoration of the body's natural equilibrium. This technique is based on the premise that the body contains energy, or "chi", constantly flowing through channels or zones which unite to form the reflex points on the feet and hands. After cleansing the feet your reflexologist uses pressure points to systematically stimulate all nerve reflexes in your feet. These points correspond to all major body parts and organs, which are then stimulated to improved total body functioning. Based on the original Ingham method, this holistic healing technique is far more than a foot massage, helping to restore balance and harmony to your entire body.
This is followed by our Traditional Thai Massage. Your therapist will concentrate on carefully applying pressure to different parts of your body focusing on the back of your legs, arms & shoulders moving on to the front of your body and head. The pressure distributes energy, releases tension & blockage and stretches muscles leaving you relaxed, energetic and free from stiffness. The massage is performed on a mattress in a two piece outfit.
A journey with a very dynamic physical experience seducing your body, mind, emotions and spirit from within.
